Acquisitions and Cataloging Department became the structural subdivision of TSU Research Library in 1934. Its establishment was the result of joining prior separate departments of Cataloging, Alphabet Cataloging, Systematic Cataloging, and unprocessed fund. According to the Library Order (№64 November 30, 1938) the Acquisitions Office was established as a separate structural library division. The following responsibilities were established within the new division: subscribing periodicals, purchasing literature in bookstores and from individuals, conducting correspondence with the Book Chamber, distributing new acquisitions among the Research library ‘s departments and conducting exchange of publications with different national and international academic institutions. In order to optimize the technological cycle the Acquisition division and the Scientific Processing of Documents division were united in November 1998. The implementation of the library information system – VTLS allowed to make all the library processes automated. The transition to ABIS Koha was carried out in April 2021. The consolidation of two departments allowed to increase the intensity and the quality of work of the newly arranged structural division. The main working achievements of the Department resulted in weekly increase of the the library funds with new research, learning, methodological editions, dissertations in the number 300-400 titles and 800-1000 samples of copies of materials on different subject areas in accordance with the requests of the TSU academic staff.
